historically important it has been recognised as a
'World Heritage Site'. The walk around the top of the
town walls is unique in Wales. |

Also in Conwy, is the recently restored Plas
Mawr, one of the finest Elizabethan town houses in Britain.
Conwy also contains the smallest house in Britain.

daffodils, spring bulbs, camellias,
magnolias, early-flowering rhododendrons and cherries in
March to early April

Rhododendrons are at their best mid-April
and the spectacular Japanese and deciduous azaleas from
mid-May. The famous original laburnum Arch usually flowers
mid-May for 3 to 4 weeks.

Herbaceous borders, roses, hydrangeas,
clematis and water-lilies from mid-June to September

Superb autumn colours from mid October
onwards
Crafnant
Further down the valley, in the lee of the
Carneddau mountains, is a mini "Lake District", with
uncrowded walks for all levels of ability.
Swallow Falls

Only 14 miles further down the valley is the world
famous "Swallow Falls" on the outskirts of
Betws-y-coed.
Here beautiful riverside and woodland walks can be
enjoyed.

The Conwy Valley also contains pre-historic
burial chambers, Roman and iron-age forts, medieval churches
and a victorian spa - a time capsule for all our guests.
Forget the car, 'Let the train take the
strain'
Rail times from London Euston are
approximately 3½ hours to Llandudno Junction, 2 miles from
the Old Rectory. Within 200 yards of the station are Avis car
hire, Tel 01492 585101.
A railway line down the Conwy Valley links to
the Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway, where there are wonderful
walks from station to station in the heart of Snowdonia.
Conwy, Llandudno and Bodnant Gardens are all
within 10 minutes ride by taxi. |
