The Garden was referred to as a "mini Bodnant" in the Good Hotel Guide. It contains many rare and unusual trees and shrubs.
The garden emphasises the motto of the house "Hardd Hafan Hedd", a beautiful haven of peace.

One of the finest views from a Country House in Wales. Uninterrupted vistas from the mountains to the sea; forever changing with the ebb and flow of the River Conwy.

Facing west, at the end of the day we enjoy glorious dramatic sunsets. Overlooking the Conwy RSPB bird reserve, the calls of the feeding estuary birds are a delight.

For those of the gardening fraternity who have not visited North Wales or considered its virtues as a potential for a holiday for a long weekend it might be worth note of the number of places of interest to the plantsman in the area. Bodnant Gardens and Portmerion never fail to impress visitors, and apart from the nursery attached to Bodnant Gardens and a number of general nurseries and garden centres, there are now three specialist nurseries offering plants impossible or hard to find elsewhere These are Aberconwy Nursery (alpines and rhododendrons), Crug Farm Plants (unusual perennials for shade) and now, of course, Rickards Hardy Ferns. It's worth thinking about.
